In Focus | I AM: Reckless

Author Editor - 2 minute read

Our wider community continues to be more important than ever. As a branch of our Community Connection initiatives and building on our brand heritage, our AW22 'I AM' shoot spotlights individuals from our wider community, celebrating their talents, unique personalities, stories and diverse backgrounds - adding to our support of emerging talent.

Introducing Ocean Genevieve, a model and psychology student. From studying art a few years ago to switching it up and now aspiring to be a clinical psychologist, we caught up with Ocean to put the spotlight on her story and to explore her passions and inspirations.

Do you remember French Connection / FCUK growing up?

I do. Often when my dad was getting ready for work in the morning, while my mum ironed his shirt, he would have on a pair of FCUK boxers under his suit trousers. He was very proper about his presentation and had an array of cologne, FCUK being amongst them in a little white bottle.

Who/what has inspired you the most?

My father has always been a living legend in my eyes, he’s a real rags to riches story, someone you can truly learn something from, if you care to listen. My father is the most inspiring individual I think I’ll ever know.

How would you describe your personal style?

My style is somewhat sexy with a-bit of edge. I like to opt for my black Harley boots on most occasions, with oversized cargos but I do switch it with a pair of cute ballet pumps now and then, or something figure hugging to show off my shape.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received?

The best advice I’ve received is to not to take it all too seriously. Be honest to who you are and remember your roots.

What causes are close to you heart? How important is community to you?

I understand now more than ever the importance of community, from family in the home to the online world, it’s important to recognise all things are interconnected, and what we put out into the world if often what we receive back, so treat others with decency and dignity.

What hobbies do you enjoy when you’re not modelling/outside of work?

I love to roller skate! It’s such a thrill, especially when challenging yourself to do something frightening - it’s been great confidence builder and good for getting that cardio in!

Tell us something about yourself that might surprise us...

People are often surprised when I tell them that I’m one of seven siblings, they usually say to me “so your parents are crazy then”, to which I reply “yes very much so”.

Spring summer or autumn winter… a lovely mix of all seasons

Currently binge-watching… Tiktoks, which feels almost involuntary or whatever Netflix has to offer

After work, you’ll usually find me… in my bedroom doing self-care

What's the one thing you can't live without? My journal for thought keeping

Career highlight so far…Working with people I’ve known about and looked up to since my early teens, feels a full circle.
