In Focus | I AM: A CREATIVE

Author Editor - 2 minute read

Our wider community continues to be more important than ever. As a branch of our Community Connection initiatives and building on our brand heritage, our AW22 'I AM' shoot spotlights individuals from our wider community, celebrating their talents, unique personalities, stories and diverse backgrounds - adding to our support of emerging talent.

Introducing Misha Hart, a model, student and creative from Glasgow. Her modelling career took off in 2014 and it's taken her around the world. We caught up with Misha to put the spotlight on her story and to explore her passions and inspirations.

Tell us a little bit about yourself...

I grew up in Glasgow and I'm a model, student and creative. My modelling career took off in 2014 and I was fortunate enough to travel the world and work with some of the most inspirational creatives in the industry. Now that I'm 28 and ready for a new challenge, I'm doing a degree in Media. I'm learning about filmmaking, photography, journalism and more, and I can't wait to immerse myself into new creative endeavours.

Who/what has inspired you the most?

Music artists have inspired me the most. I love being fully engulfed by the world that an artist has curated. The combination of visuals, still and moving image and live performance with music at its core is like being transported to an alternative universe; for example you can immerse yourself fully in the works of Nick Cave who has created an entire repertoire of iconic, hypnotic music and imagery to lose yourself in.

How would you describe your personal style?

I enjoy playing with juxtaposition: masculinity with femininity, tough with delicate, tailored with messy. I love suits, boots, and I hoard vintage leather coats.

What's the best piece of advice you've received?

I worked with Vivienne Westwood on her A/W 2018 collection. It was a dream as I idolise her. She advised me to read a lot, read text from different cultures, just read as much as I possibly can.

What causes are close to your heart? How important is community to you?

Our society is astronomically better at speaking openly about Mental Health than it was when I was a teenager, but there's still a long way to go. As an individual with experience living with mental health issues, this is an issue close to my heart and I believe that easy access to mental health support in its many forms should be a right, not a privilege. Community is everything when it comes to happiness and wellbeing. Feeling part of something, feeling supported and lifted up by your peers and your wider community, and having access to the resources that you need to be well can be the difference between struggling alone and getting back on your feet.

Quick Fire:

I am... A creative.

Spring summer or Autumn winter? Autumn is my season, I feel at home here.

Currently binge watching... House of the Dragon.

After work, you'll usually find me... With a loved one, probably involving food.

One thing you can't live without... My people.

Career highlight... Walking for Christopher Bailey's final Burberry collection in 2018. The show was a true celebration of the LGBTQ+ community and it was beautiful.
