How To Conquer Al Fresco Dining

Author Editor - 1 minute read

We’re as surprised as you are that the hot weather has decided to stick around – who would have thought that the UK was capable of such a lengthy summer?

With the sunshine comes the desire to take all things outside – meetings, exercise, eating. Conquering al-fresco dining is no easy feat.

What do you need to really capture the British summertime experience? Have you forgotten anything for your next barbecue? Where will everyone sit? Do I have enough knives and forks?

Stick with us, we’ve got all your outdoor dining needs sorted.

Go fourth and conquer.

The Utensils

First things first – let’s get the essentials sorted.

Opt for things that match as it will create a truly Instagram worthy aesthetic. Mango wood, gold, enamel or marble, whatever your kryptonite, buy it in abundance.

Yes, it’s perfect for the warmer evenings but it’ll come in handy when you throw those winter dinner parties too.

The Sitting Arrangements

Why spend money on summery garden furniture which can’t be used for half of the year? Opt for soft furnishings that work both inside and out (just remember to bring them in out of the rain!).

We’re all about cushions to soften traditionally uncomfortable outdoor seating, Moroccan inspired pouffes and – if you are feeling fancy – our Cow Hide chair which is the perfect way to kick back and relax - either in front of the fire or in front of a summer sunset.

For When It Gets Cold

Whilst we’re enjoying the warmer weather, we need to be realistic. Because, when the sun goes down, the temperature drops rapidly and we’re quickly reminded we’re actually infact, not on holiday.

(Sadly)

But don’t let the cooler evenings spoil your get together. Blankets and throws are the perfect versatile buy to see you through summer and winter.

Soft to touch and cool to look at, they’re a win win all round.

To Set The Mood

Whether it’s date night or dinner with friends, a little ambience never hurt anyone.

If your preference is candles, choose a light scent so not to overpower the food and drink. Alternatively invest in some outdoor lighting (which will always come in handy).

Opt for an industrial look with our Wall Cage Lamp.
