Between regular flights across the Atlantic, Emily Roberts of The Lipstick Fever is constantly considering what to pack, what to wear and how to style her wardrobe for summers in the city. It's a tricky affair but it's one that this blogger has down to a tee. Here, Emily puts the modern wardrobe to the test. Let's dive in.

Emily Roberts is a New Yorker. Being a New Yorker, she is well versed in dressing for all extremes of weather; for those of you who are yet to visit the US city, it's nothing short of sweltering in the summer months. Since moving to London she has brought with her a considered yet stylish attitude to dressing that we mere Londoner's can learn a few things from.

'Whether it's NYC or London, I like to stick with staple pieces that I can take from day to night. Versatile pieces like easy dresses that can be styled a zillion ways are key. 1. They make packing easy. 2. You can accessorise until your heart's content. Add sunglasses in the day with a pop of colour and add just add earrings for the evening.'

Tell us about what you've chosen to wear today...

I've picked two easy dresses. An LBD and a classic shirt dress that will get you through any occasion.

The Tatus Stripe Drawstring Dress is fun and airy for daytime. Keep it simple with your favourite trainers.

The strappy back on the Santorini Drape Jersey Dress makes for some additional fun detail and looks great with a bold lip and gold jewellery.

What do you love about living between both London and New York?

'I've always loved the energy and the buzz of city living. I thrive off it. NYC can also be a little overwhelming though which is why I've completely embraces the move to London. There's a different kind of buzz here. There's a mix of local history and modernity in the people, pub culture, pristine parks and pretty nooks and crannies. I'm in love with London.'

How do you experience city life when you're visiting for a holiday?

'When I'm on a city break I'm like a little kid again. I love to wander and get lost and try EVERYTHING. My favourite thing to do is find the local drink and let the day take me wherever it wants with no set plan.'

You spend a lot of time flying between London and NYC. What's the one thing you can't live without on a plane?

'Aquaphor lip ointment, facial mist and face masks. Sorry, that's three! I'm a skincare junkie. You'll even catch me misting my husband's face.'

What's the first thing you pack?

'The facial mist and my phone charger.'
