Denim is a firm wardrobe favourite. Here to back that up is Wallis Day, up-and-coming actress and former model. We stepped behind the scenes to catch up with Wallis herself on her role in the soon-to-be-released Superman prequel, Krypton, her love for movie villains and, of course, her undying love for denim.

When did you move from modelling into acting?

I definitely had an interest in acting before modelling. I moved around a lot as a child but acting was a constant. I'd always join the local theatre group. Acting came naturally and developed into a passion as I got older.

What can you tell us about your up-coming film?

The next thing I'm filming is the Superman prequel. It's a 10-part Warner Bros./DC Comics American TV series on SYFY. Based 200 years ago on planet Krypton, I’m playing the villainess, Nyssa.

Describe the moment that you got the role…

It was about to turn midnight on my 22nd birthday. I was almost certain that nerves had got the better of me and had even called my agent asking him to call them and let me go back in for another audition.

I got a call at midnight to tell me that I'd got the role. I dropped the phone and spent the entire duration of my birthday crying. When geniuses like David S Goyer, who I've always dreamt of working alongside, believe in you it's pretty overwhelming.

What do you look for in a film?

The first thing I look for in a film is a scintillating script. Psychological thrillers/action films grab my attention the most.

I actually got asked to cut my hair for a film last January, when it was much longer and blonde, but at the time I was living in LA and felt as a young girl it was part of my identity. I turned the film down. However, strangely, after that my hair never felt as paramount to me. I realised that having long, blonde hair was in no way integral to the types of characters I want to portray and if anything it was type-casting me into the wrong category. The roles I was going up for were constantly to play the girlfriend of the main character or the girl next door. For me these roles weren't intriguing, they didn’t captivate me or light the fire in my belly. I want to be jumping off the edge of a cliff descending deep into the Pacific ocean.

What would be your dream role?

I need a meaty character, a badass femme fatale. There’s something to villains that make them more complex and interesting. I've always been an adrenaline junkie and I enjoy learning new skills; I love surfing and jet skiing.

Denim fits your relaxed sense of style. Do you have a go-to piece in your wardrobe?

Generally my style is a mixture of casual tomboy styles. I do really enjoy dressing up but I tend to save it for special occasions. Most days I feel comfortable in a pair of jeans, a leather jacket and boots. My go-to denim piece is definitely a pair of boyfriend jeans, they’re such a comfortable fit.
