Our Geordie lady, Miss Lauren Archer is back and sharing with us her weekly diary. Get a glimpse of what the Scran On The Tyne blogger gets up to, which parties she attends and more importantly what she's been wearing, recognise a few bits? She'll be holding the fort at our #CANTHELPMYSELFIE event in Newcastle tonight, be sure to pop down and say hello, (and brave the rain!!!), she's promised us she'll be wearing her #Selfie tee.

"Thanks to Scran on the Tyne, I’m lucky enough to attend quite a few press and blogger events in the city. None however, have been quite so anticipated as the impending #CANTHELPMYSELFIE event, so obviously I’m thrilled to be playing a part in the Newcastle chapter. It’s been a pretty busy week or so and while I've been going about my day job in marketing, running the website and doing the odd DJ stint, I've also been doing my bit to help the Newcastle event be the best in the series."

Thursday 15th May

I woke up with a bit of a fuzzy head after an evening celebrating my baby brother’s birthday (he’s actually 23...), but there was no time to feel sorry for myself as I had a meeting to attend early doors. As part of the #CANTHELPMYSELFIE campaign, I was interviewing Danny and Dunny of MSA, so after popping into my favourite café, Quay Ingredient, for a quick cappuccino and their amazing full English breakfast (best in the city – no contest), I was back to my old self and ready to get interviewing. I visited Danny and Dunny at their new Unit44 base in the city centre, and it was great to have a catch up. There’s so much going on within their various ventures and it’s obviously excellent to see friends doing so well.

After an hour or so, the interview was complete (you can read it here tomorrow) and I was off to Hoult’s Yard to meet with my pal Lee (and his gorgeous Labrador, Max) at TAC Design, an amazing design and development studio just outside of the city. They’ll be undertaking the mammoth task of giving my website, Scran on the Tyne an enormous face lift. Hoult’s Yard is also home to the brilliant (and award-winning) digital marketing agency Silverbean, where I’m chuffed to say I’ll be working in a few weeks when I join the team as Marketing Manager. I can’t wait!

Saturday 16th May

The sun was out in force in Newcastle, so the only thing to do was have a BBQ, obviously! After a quick food shop (and trip down the wine aisle, naturally) we were all set. I marinated some chicken in lots of chilli and garlic, made a gorgeous salad packed with avocado, olives, capers and then got the fire on, ready for grilling. As much as I love being busy, it’s great to have a day off in the sunshine to catch up with friends, eat lots (my favourite past-time) and have a few glasses of wine and home-made mojitos.

I then had to get myself ready and get music prepared as I was booked to DJ at Tup Tup Palace in the city centre, Newcastle’s swankiest club which has been graced with appearances from Will.i.am, Drake, Cheryl Cole, Kanye West (just don’t ask him about that photographer!) to name but a few. The night was pretty busy as it was the official closing party of Newcastle Fashion Week, and I was upstairs in the Loja bar playing a summery mix of old school hip hop and R&B; my favourite!

Wednesday 21st May

My day was all about the Thinking Digital Conference, a fantastic annual event where like-minded digital folk get together for inspiring seminars, workshops and talks. I absolutely love this event and it’s always great to bump into friends from the creative and digital sectors for a catch-up. The North East tech industry is growing at a rapid rate and there are some hugely successful businesses that started on Tyneside shores that are doing well on both a national and international scale. The rest of the afternoon was spent replying to emails from excited bloggers attending tomorrow’s #CANTHELPMYSELFIE event, sending out blogger press packs and finalising the details of what our local restaurants and bars will be putting in the amazing goodie bags on the night. A massive pamper night was also in order so I’m scrubbed, preened and ready for my selfie on the night and of course, a good night’s beauty sleep. Roll on Thursday!

Thursday 22nd May

The day is finally here! I’ve got lots of items to pick up and drop into the French Connection Newcastle store so they can be dropped into goodie bags, before picking up gorgeous canapés from Gusto Newcastle. I’m really excited to see my mate DJ LKP too, as he’ll be providing the soundtrack to the evening and I know his tunes will go down a treat. All that’s left to do is enjoy the night and be ready for my close-up at 6:55pm! To see my selfie from the event you can head to the #CANTHELPMYSELFIE page on the French Connection website, or follow my evening on Twitter or Instagram. Look forward to seeing everyone’s selfies on the night and raising a glass to the amazing campaign with French Connection at the after-party!

Lauren's outfits take your fancy? You can get the Bel Air Tweed Jacket here and a pair of the Shadow Dance Skinny Trousers here.
